- 12MAYSpace App Camp 2014 - 4-12th May, near AmsterdamJoin the Space App Camp 2014: Apply now! Innovative developers from Europe with experience in app development are invited to apply for admission to the Space App Camp by 3 March 2014. Oberpfaffenhofen, 14 January 2014: The EU co-funded project S2G2M2 is inviting 20 developers to the European Space Agency in the Netherlands (including travel expenses and accommodation) for the chance to work with like-minded people, learn how to integrate satellite data into their mobile applications, and gain insight into European space programmes. The participants in the Space App Camp will be selected based on the creativity of their previous works with regard to content, usability, design, and the underlying business concepts. Those interested will need to include links to published apps (Android or iOS platforms) and other references in their applications. During the Space App Camp, the participants will be provided with access to satellite data designed to help them develop mobile applications in five predefined categories. The goal is to come up with working app prototypes that use data from Europe’s satellite navigation (Galileo/EGNOS) and Earth observation (Copernicus) programmes on mobile devices. Experience in integrating such data is not required to take part in the Space App Camp. Those interested can apply to participate in the Space App Camp via an online registration form until 3 March 2014. Participants will be able to choose their preferred category, and can apply as teams of two or four. Those applying as teams of two will be grouped accordingly into teams of four. May - Porto, PTThe 3rd Workshop on European Unmanned Maritime Systems is co-organised by EDA, the Portuguese Ministry of National Defence, and INESC Technology & Science. The workshop will take place within the framework of the 4th Sea Forum in Porto, Portugal. The major goal of the workshop is to promote the exchange of information on current and recently completed research and technology work in the area of the Unmanned Maritime Systems program, under EDA, which aims new developments on unmanned maritime systems, and the application of these systems in several domains, both in military and civilian areas. Being complementarity and cooperation a main focus in Europe, it is also a goal to promote this exchange with recent and current 7th Framework Program as well as national projects under this same area. The workshop is targeted to both researchers and end-users, and constitutes a privileged forum for discussing new ideas, identifying new trends and paradigms, new business opportunities, as well as the establishment of partnerships, namely in the scope of the European Horizon 2020 Programme. The workshop is open to the representatives of industry, research institutes, academia, and government organizations from EDA Member States and Norway. Many lab work will be carried out to get attendees really “hands-on”. In addition, lectures on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Patents as well as on business aspects are given. The future of satellite systems is also discussed. Main emphasis will be put on the development of a group project using innovative ideas and covering all aspects from the idea, business plan, technical realisation till the marketing of the product or the service. The program is open to graduate students (with a first university degree), Ph.D. candidates, early-stage researchers and young professional willing to broaden their knowledge. International renowned scientists and specialists will give the lectures as well as the practical exercises and lab work.
